An antique silver tea caddy spoon made in Sheffield, England, bearing the maker’s mark of S. Fender & Co. Ltd. The hallmarks on the reverse date the piece to 1915 and identify Sheffield as its assay office.

As tea became an established part of everyday life in Britain, tea caddies and their accompanying spoons became familiar fixtures of the tea table. Tea was more than simply a drink; it was woven into the rituals of hospitality and social life. Even the smallest accessories were made with a balance of practicality and decorative appeal, and tea caddy spoons offer a charming glimpse into these more considered moments of tea drinking.

This piece features a shell-shaped bowl, complemented by delicate, flowing engraving along the handle. The softly sculpted bowl catches the light beautifully, while the fine decorative details lend the slender handle an elegant, feminine character. Despite its petite proportions, the spoon has a lovely sense of balance between form and ornament, reflecting the refined aesthetic often found in British silverware of the period.

Designed originally for measuring loose tea leaves from a tea caddy, it can still be enjoyed for its intended purpose or displayed on a tray alongside other small silver treasures. Whether in use or simply resting on a dressing table or tea table, it is a beautifully detailed little object with a quiet presence of its own.

𓉞 T.C.C Notes
All vintage objects carry natural signs of use and the traces of time. This piece has received an initial polishing treatment using silver cleaner. Its naturally developed patina has been preserved rather than excessively removed. To help maintain the beauty and longevity of the silver, frequent or excessive use of silver cleaner is not recommended.

When not in use, please store it in a sealed zip-lock bag to minimise exposure to air. If necessary, gently polish it with a soft silver polishing cloth. As an object that has been enjoyed over many decades, it shows natural wear and signs of age. Please refer to the detailed photographs for the overall condition and individual marks.
