Silver Jug Pendant Charm

An antique silver jug pendant, marked ‘SIL’.

This charming little silver charm, modelled in the form of a miniature jug, is thought to date from the late 19th or early 20th century, when charm jewellery was particularly popular. Small charms in a variety of shapes and with different meanings were often collected and worn together on chains or bracelets, creating highly personal and eclectic pieces of jewellery. Over time, individual charms were often separated from their original collections and passed down or sold individually.

This little jug may well have once formed part of a larger collection of charms. Now found as a charming piece in its own right, it offers a small glimpse into the jewellery traditions and personal tastes of the period.

Wear it on a delicate chain as a pendant, or combine it with other antique charms to create your own collection. Small in size but full of character, its softly aged silver and charming miniature form make it a lovely piece for any antique jewellery collection.

All vintage objects carry natural signs of use and the traces of time. This piece has received an initial polishing treatment using silver cleaner. Its naturally developed patina has been preserved rather than excessively removed. To help maintain the beauty and longevity of the silver, frequent or excessive use of silver cleaner is not recommended.

When not in use, please store it in a sealed zip-lock bag to minimise exposure to air. If necessary, gently polish it with a soft silver polishing cloth. As an object that has been enjoyed over many decades, it shows natural wear and signs of age. Please refer to the detailed photographs for the overall condition and individual marks.
