English Oak Letter Rack II, c.1900

An antique Oak Letter Rack, believed to date from the late 19th to early 20th century in Britain.

Designed to hold letters, postcards, newspapers, and other papers, Letter Racks were once a familiar part of everyday life in British homes and offices. Often placed on a desk, in a study, or by the entrance, they offered a simple way to keep correspondence neatly organised.

This piece features beautifully aged oak with a warm, deepened tone and softly curved details. Its understated design allows the natural grain and character of the wood to take centre stage.

Today, it can be used to display postcards, photographs, cards, and other small pieces of paper, or simply as a charming way to keep notes and everyday correspondence close at hand.

Once made for holding letters and messages, it can now become a small archive for the things you choose to keep.

Vintage wooden objects naturally develop their own character, colour, and patina through years of use. This piece has received an initial wood polishing treatment, while its naturally aged texture and signs of time have been carefully preserved.

Please note that the left side panel, when viewed from the front, has a slight angle from the original construction. This is a characteristic of the piece and is not particularly noticeable when viewed straight on from the front. Please refer to the detailed photographs carefully to see the shape and angle of the side panel before purchasing.

To maintain its condition and character, we recommend occasional oil polishing. Please keep the piece away from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and moisture.
