This object is believed to be an antique bread crumb brush, originally used to sweep breadcrumbs from the dining table. The flat handle is made from Real Ebony and retains the REAL EBONY marking. Its deep, smooth colour and understated silhouette are particularly appealing, while the natural texture of the wood makes it lovely to hold. The bristles are believed to be boar bristle, retaining the characteristic firmness and resilience of this natural material. Originally intended for clearing crumbs from the table, the brush may also be useful for removing dust from keyboards, desks and other small surfaces. A small and practical household object, it also makes a charming decorative piece when displayed on a desk or shelf, where its rich ebony colour and distinctive form can be appreciated.
