A refined oval hand mirror crafted from genuine ebony, featuring a comfortable size and a beautifully balanced weight that feels natural in the hand. Ebony was a highly prized material throughout 16th–18th century Europe, especially during the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
It was widely used in France, England, the Netherlands, and beyond for the creation of royal and aristocratic furniture, decorative objects, and fine interiors. The piece presented by T.C.C is estimated to have been crafted in Victorian England (1837–1901).
During this period, antique hand mirrors became an essential yet elegant object on the dressing tables of upper-class women, combining everyday function with refined beauty.
Vintage objects carry the unique traces of time, including natural patina and signs of previous use. This piece remains in relatively well-preserved condition, and has been carefully treated with wood oil to enhance its original depth of colour and subtle sheen.
