이 돋보기를 제작한 Combined Optical Industries Ltd. (COIL)는 영국에서 광학 기구를 제작했던 회사로, Slough의 Bath Road에 기반을 두고 다양한 광학 제품을 선보였습니다. 이 제품 역시 당시의 실용적인 광학 도구가 지닌 기능 중심의 디자인을 잘 보여줍니다.

약간 투박한 듯하면서도 불필요한 장식을 덜어낸 간결한 형태가 특징입니다. 특히 아이보리 톤의 테두리와 손잡이가 둥글게 이어지는 형태로, 손에 쥐었을 때의 그립감도 좋습니다. 기능을 위한 도구이면서도 따뜻한 색감과 부드러운 형태 덕분에 하나의 작은 디자인 오브제처럼 느껴집니다.
