19세기 후반부터 20세기 초에 걸쳐 autograph book은 영국을 비롯한 유럽에서 친구와 가족, 학교의 동료들이 짧은 글이나 시, 메시지와 함께 자신의 이름을 남기는 기념품으로 사용되었습니다. 단순히 서명을 모으는 책이라기보다, 서로의 기억과 마음을 한 권에 남겨두는 개인적인 기념품에 가까웠습니다.
이 책의 첫 페이지에는 “To Christine with Love From Dad Xmas 1925”라는 글이 남아 있습니다. 1925년 크리스마스에 아버지가 Christine에게 건넨 선물로 보이며, 노트 자체는 사용되지 않은 채 깨끗한 빈 페이지로 남아 있습니다. 단 한 줄의 헌사만으로도 이 작은 책이 누구를 위해 준비되었는지 짐작할 수 있다는 점이 특히 매력적입니다.
모든 페이지는 필기나 기록 없이 비어 있는 상태이며, 종이마다 은은하게 다른 색감이 나타납니다. 부드러운 핑크와 옅은 블루, 뉴트럴한 톤이 자연스럽게 섞여 있어 페이지를 넘길 때마다 미묘한 색의 변화를 느낄 수 있습니다.
노트북의 가장자리는 gilt-edged로 마감되어 있으며, 약 100년의 시간이 지났음에도 금빛 테두리가 매우 좋은 상태로 보존되어 있습니다. 종이와 제본 역시 전체적으로 좋은 빈티지 컨디션을 유지하고 있습니다.
누군가의 이름과 글을 하나씩 채워가도록 만들어졌지만, 결국 거의 한 세기 동안 비어 있던 책. 1925년 크리스마스의 짧은 한 문장만을 간직한 채, 아직 쓰이지 않은 페이지를 그대로 남겨두고 있습니다.

오랜 시간에 따른 종이의 자연스러운 색감 변화와 미세한 사용감이 있습니다. 표지는 당시의 노트와 기념용 책자에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 faux leather 마감으로, 오랜 세월을 지나며 자연스럽게 형성된 질감과 색감이 빈티지한 분위기를 더합니다. 표지 전면에는 ‘AUTOGRAPH’라는 문구가 금색으로 장식되어 있으며, 전체적으로 좋은 상태로 보존되어 있습니다.
