Wade has been producing ceramics in Stoke-on-Trent, the heart of the British pottery industry, since the 19th century. The brand became particularly well known among collectors from the 1950s onwards for its charming ‘Whimsies’ series of small animal figurines.
This little polar bear captures the simple, playful character often found in British ceramic animal figures. Its rounded, weighty form gives it a pleasing presence despite its small scale, making it an especially charming piece for a collection of vintage ceramics.
The reverse is marked WADE ENGLAND, retaining the original maker’s mark.
Its compact size makes it easy to place on a bookshelf, mantelpiece or shelf, where it adds a quiet touch of character without overwhelming the space.

Vintage ceramic pieces naturally carry the marks of their age, from subtle surface wear to gentle variations in colour and finish. We have left these signs of time intact rather than over-restoring the piece, allowing its original character to remain.
Please note that there is a very small chip to the front underside of the figurine. It is minor, but please refer to the photographs carefully for the exact condition before purchasing.
To preserve the piece, we recommend avoiding prolonged contact with water or strong cleaning products. Dust can be gently removed with a soft, dry cloth.
